About the club:
TAC-OSB Cary Masters (OSBC) is a chapter of North Carolina Masters Swimming. We train at the Triangle Aquatic Center in Cary, North Carolina. Our team launched in October, 2007, on the first Monday TAC was open for business.

Our team members include triathletes, open water swimmers, and pool swimmers looking to improve or maintain their swim performances while training with like-minded individuals in a relaxed, fun setting. We have several socials each year and many of our swimmers compete in triathlons, open water, and USMS meets.

A typical practice is 4,000 yards +/- 1,500 depending on the day and your ability.

Practice times, focus, and coach:
Monday - 545-715 AM - Distance - Marty
Monday - 800-900 PM - Distance/mid-distance - Bobby
Tuesday - 545-7AM - Core and Technique - Marty
Wednesday - 545-7 AM - Mid-distance/stroke - Duran
Wednesday - 800-900 PM -Mid-distance/stroke - Seth
Thursday - 600-700 AM - Distance / mid-distance - Duran
Friday - 6-7 AM - Speeedwork and threshold sets - Marty, Wayne, or Bri
Some Saturdays 7-8 or 830 AM - Coaches choice - Varies

The coaches:
Marty Gaal: Our head coach and team founder is Marty Gaal, a Cary resident and former distance swimmer at The Florida State University. Marty is a member of US Masters Swimming, the American Swim Coaches Association, and is a certified strength and conditioning specialist (NSCA CSCS). Marty is a full-time triathlon & swim coach and co-owns One Step Beyond.

Bri Gaal: Coach and team founder Bri Gaal is a Cary resident and former track and cross-country runner at the University of Central Florida. Bri is a member of US Masters Swimming, is a certified USA Triathlon coach, and is a top age-group triathlete and road racer. Bri co-owns One Step Beyond.

Duran Pardue: Coach Duran Pardue has been a swimmer for most of his life. Training in a variety of sports, he was captain and later president of men's rowing club at NC State. After graduating, he transitioned over to multisport events. Duran favors open water swims and distance running.

Wayne Erb: Coach Wayne is a lifelong swimmer and has coached age-group and masters over the years. He is a fixture on the Raleigh swimming circuit and coaches a Friday or two each month.

Greg Sanchez: We are also joined by Triangle legend and former Tar Heels swimmer Greg Sanchez, a longtime Cary resident and veteran triathlete / open water swimmer. Greg will be in the water on Wednesday and Friday mornings, leading and motivating the distance group through challenging training sets.

Seth Botwick: Coach Seth Botwick joined the team in 2011. He is a lifelong swimmer and previously coached high school and age-group swim teams. Seth is a multiple Ironman finisher and top age-group triathlete. Seth is on-deck most Wednesday evenings.

Bobby Mayhew: Coach Bobby Mayhew joined the team in 2011. He grew up a competitive swimmer and swam for a season in college. Bobby is on-deck Monday evenings.

The fees:
$52.50 per month gets you into all practices and covers entry into the facility during our practice times. The first practices is complimentary. Team members also need to join US Masters, which was $37 in 2010.

Drop-ins are also welcome at $6.50 per practice (this fee includes pool entry). If you drop-in on a regular basis you will need to join US Masters.

Our Team Mission
Help you get into/stay in shape, learn to swim fast, and have fun. We have quarterly team parties and many of our members race on a regular basis.
